Austin Wings Black are National Champions! (Jul/27/2008)
Austin Wings Black 17 are Premier Baseball National Champions! On July 27th, the Black Wings defeated the Indiania Bulls 10-9 in 8 innings in Joplin, MO. Congratulations to the Austin Wings Black 17 who won 8 straight games in Joplin.
Earlier in the month the Austin Wings Seniors played well at the Premier Senior National Championship in Cincinnati but were eliminated in the semi finals by the Indiana Bulls.

Williams and Walla Selected for Texas Rangers Area Code Team (Jul/27/2008)
Two Austin Wings players Everett Williams and Cohl Walla were selected for the Texas Rangers Area Code Team. Both are outfielders on the Black Wings 17 team. Williams will be a senior at McCallum High School in Austin and Walla a senior at Lake Travis High School. Williams posted the fastest 60-yard time at the Area Code Tryouts with a 6.50. Walla was also impressive with a 60-yard time of 6.71.
During his 2008 high school baseball season, Williams hit 13 home runs, stole 16 bases and ended the regular season hitting .470. During the post-season he hit .530. Walla, also a wide receiver on the state champion Lake Travis Cavaliers, helped their baseball team finish the season with a 30-10 record, the most successful baseball season in Lake Travis history. Walla hit .380 with 8 HRs and led the Cavs with 42 RBIs and 30 runs scored.
Williams was also honored to be named as a member of the Aflac All-American 2008 West Team. He will participate in the sixth Aflac All-American High School Baseball Game, which features the best high school baseball players in the country. The game will be played on Aug. 9 at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, the first time in the game's six-year history that it will be played at a major league baseball stadium, and will be broadcast live on FOX Sports Net at noon Pacific Time.
The annual Aflac All-American High School Baseball Game showcases the nation's top high school players in an East versus West matchup played following their junior year. Last year Wings University of Texas at Austin bound Taylor Jungman also participated as a member of the Aflac and Area code teams.

Austin Wings a member of Premier Baseball (May/20/2008)
Premier Baseball is an aggregation of baseball organizations that have been in business for a number of years and have achieved a high level of success on the field. Each organization has as its goal, playing the best baseball possible. Premier was formed to assist in that goal. Each organization has the welfare and advancement of its players as its goal. Premier formed to assist in that goal.. Currently, there are 21 organizations that are part of Premier baseball
Premier Baseball is not a league, and at present does not contemplate engaging in league play among its members, although its members are free to engage in league play. The members of Premier will host invitational tournaments whose pools and brackets will be populated by other Premier teams, though not exclusively.
Premier was not formed to compete with other national organizations, nor is its goal to put others out of business or to be divisive in any way. Teams from Premier organizations will play and compete in a number of existing national organizations. Premier is an attempt to meet the needs of its members in what is an ever-changing amateur baseball landscape.
